Pete Peterson, a distinguished professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and 1994 Pew Marine Fellow, has published a document with co-authors on behalf of the Ocean Conservancy titled “Assessing Natural Resource Damages from the BP Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill: Lessons Learned from the Exxon Valdez Experience.” The goal of the document is to guide government agencies that are dealing with the effects of the oil spill. The team makes a number of organizational and scientific recommendations.
