Briefing: The Public Health Threat of Antibiotic Resistance

The Pew Charitable Trusts, together with eight public health and consumer groups, hosted a briefing Nov. 18 as part of Get Smart About Antibiotics Week. The event was meant to raise awareness about the growing threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of using these drugs appropriately.

The briefing featured Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as four “Supermoms Against Superbugs” advocates, who shared their expertise, personal experiences, and sense of urgency in addressing what is one of today’s most pressing public health issues.
