Kyoto Enters Into Force
The Kyoto Protocol, an international agreement adopted in December 1997 in Japan, enters into force on February 16, 2005. The Protocol sets binding targets for developed countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on average 5.2 percent below 1990 levels, in order to address global warming.
