Pew Comments on Proposed Method for Improving Antibiotic Sales Data
On Nov. 9, The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on its proposed method to adjust data to improve the understanding of the U.S. animal population that may require antibiotics.
Pew’s comments support the agency’s proposal as a mechanism to improve the usefulness of animal antibiotic sales data and offer input to help ensure that the method is transparent and understandable, consistent with other international efforts, and interpreted with appropriate context and acknowledgment of the data’s inherent limitations.
