Alongside local communities, scientists and governments, we are currently working in The Kermadecs, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Palau, Pitcairn Islands, Easter Island, Bermuda, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, and Tristan Da Cunha.
The Global Ocean Legacy team has previously helped to create some of the largest marine reserves on the plant: Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument in the northwestern Hawaiian Islands, Mariana Trench Marine National Monument in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Chagos Marine Reserve in Australia, and Coral Sea Commonwealth Marine Reserve in Australia.
These reserves cover a total of 1.5 million square kilometers of protected marine environments, free of fishing, mining and other harmful activities.
