Improve Deep-Sea Mining Company's Social Impact

The Pew Charitable Trusts participated in a stakeholder consultation on 27 January 2023 by Nauru Ocean Resources, Inc. (NORI) on a social impact assessment report. NORI, a deep-sea mining company, undertook a scoping consultation to gather stakeholder input on the social risks and benefits of deep-sea mining. Pew submitted detailed comments highlighting its concerns about the environmental, social and economic threats, suggested improvements and urged NORI to incorporate comments received through this consultation into its future work.
