Pew Supports Legislation to Strengthen Oversight of Diagnostic Tests
The VALID Act would ensure FDA has the tools to regulate the clinical test market
The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments to leaders of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on Dec. 9 expressing support for the Verifying Accurate Leading-edge IVCT Development (VALID) Act. The legislation would reform federal oversight of diagnostic tests. Under the bill, all diagnostic tests would undergo Food and Drug Administration review before reaching the market.
