On Feb. 3, The Pew Charitable Trusts joined dozens of organizations in thanking Representatives Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Fred Upton (R-MI) for including the Pioneering Antimicrobial Subscriptions to End Upsurging Resistance (PASTEUR) Act in their Cures 2.0 legislation.
In a letter, the organizations—representing clinicians, scientists, patients, public health professionals, animal agriculture, and the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries—underscored the growing threat of antibiotic resistance and the urgent need for policy solutions such as the PASTEUR Act that can revitalize the pipeline of antibiotics in development and help preserve the effectiveness of existing drugs.
