The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments July 31 to Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ Task Force on Climate Change. Pew recommended that Wisconsin create a statewide, watershed-based flood plan overseen by a resilience office, which could help the state identify, adapt to, and mitigate the impacts of increased flooding because of climate change.
Pew also highlighted the importance of strengthening the flood risk management review process for state assets, investments, and programs, as well as improving flood risk disclosure for homebuyers and renters. The task force will submit to Evers by October a list of actions it recommends that the state take to reduce the impacts of climate change on Wisconsin residents.
