Pew Urges Congress to Boost Use of Application Programming Interfaces in Health IT

The Pew Charitable Trusts and several health- and technology-focused groups sent a letter Sept. 11 to the chairs and ranking members of the congressional committees overseeing health information technology, urging them to support efforts by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology to expand the use of application programming interfaces to extract and share patient health data from electronic health record systems.
