On Jan. 16, 2015, Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced the Promise for Antibiotics and Therapeutics for Health (PATH) Act, designed to promote the development of much-needed antibiotics.
Together with companion legislation in the House, the Antibiotic Development to Advance Patient Treatment (ADAPT) Act , PATH would establish a streamlined approval pathway to help bring new antibacterial drugs to patients with highly resistant bacterial infections that are serious or life-threatening.
Diverse stakeholders are expressing support for this bipartisan legislation.
