Voting Information Project Partners With D.C. Board of Elections

The Voting Information Project (VIP) has partnered with the District of Columbia Board of Elections for several years to help voters find the information they need online. The board provides VIP with comprehensive official election data, including early voting sites, polling locations, candidates, and ballot measures. VIP, in collaboration with Google and other partners, makes this information available to voters through a number of different channels, such as the Voting Information Tool (VIT), which was featured on several Washington media and campaign websites for the 2014 general election, including NBC Washington, Fox 5 DC, the Washingtonian, and the DCist.

Before 2014, VIP only supported Washington’s general elections every two years, but over the past year the project and the board collaborated to make essential information readily available to voters for all of the city’s elections. Throughout 2014, VIP successfully supported Washington’s June primary, its special election for Ward 8, and the November general election.

In 2015, VIP is working with the city on its April 28 special election that covers Wards 4 and 8. Voters in those wards can find information via the board’s website and mobile applications and through VIP’s free tools and applications.
