The Honduran Navy recently confiscated shark fins from an illegal fishing incident. The fins were burned one year after the declaration of the Honduras shark sanctuary. President Porfirio Lobo Sosa initiated the burn in an act to emphasize the country's commitment to shark protection.

More than 200 fins from 184 nurse sharks were burned in a naval base at Honduras capital, Tegucigalpa today. The Honduran Navy confiscated the shark fins as part of ongoing enforcement efforts of their shark sanctuary. President Lobo Sosa initiate the burn during the event in front of dozens of law enforcement officers and the Honduran press.
