The Land Institute
Dana and Wes Jackson received a joint fellowship to pursue their work with The Land Institute, a research and education center focused on sustainable agriculture. As a co-founder of the organization, Dana Jackson used her share of the fellowship to publish and conduct collaborative work and legislative advocacy. She joined the staff of the Land Stewardship Project in 1994 and used Pew funds to support the Agroecological Restoration Project and to provide operating assistance for the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary in Kerala, India.
Dana Jackson is a senior program associate at Land Stewardship Project, a Minnesota based conservation and sustainable agriculture organization (www.landstewardshipproject.org). She coordinates the St. Croix River Valley Buy Fresh Buy Local® Chapter, developing community based food systems that protect the ecological and scenic resources of the St. Croix, a National Scenic River. She helped found and now serves on the Board of Directors of the Wild Farm Alliance, a California-based organization with a mission to promote agriculture that helps to protect and restore wild Nature (www.wildfarmalliance.org).
