Johnny Briggs
Senior Associate, Global Ocean Legacy - United Kingdom
Johnny Briggs is a senior associate with Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy campaign in the London office. Briggs joined the campaign in 2015 after seven years of experience in environmental policy and global advocacy.
Christophe Chevillon
Director, Global Ocean Legacy - New Caledonia
Christophe Chevillon directs Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project in New Caledonia. He has nearly three decades of experience in New Caledonia, mainly in the public sector.
Emily Owen
Senior associate, Global Ocean Legacy – Easter Island
Emily Owen is a senior associate with Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project. She manages the program’s Easter Island campaign, which is working with the island’s Rapa Nui community and the Chilean government to create the world’s third-largest marine reserve. Before joining Pew in Washington, Owen lived in Chile for 10 years, where she did environmental work for nongovernmental organizations and the private sector. Her experience in conservation planning and campaigning has focused on combining science, natural resource management strategies, and community stewardship to protect unique biodiversity and ecosystems.
Simón "Kuchy" Pakarati
Project coordinator, Global Ocean Legacy - Easter Island
Simón "Kuchy" Pakarati was appointed project coordinator for the on-site team of Global Ocean Legacy’s Easter Island project in May 2012. Pakarati is a Rapa Nui fisherman who has held leadership roles at the Hanga Piko Fishing Syndicate as well as in local marine conservation initiatives. As on-site project coordinator, he is responsible for the general execution of the project on the island, as well as keeping permanent and collaborative relations with local leaders and authorities.
Jérôme Petit
Director, Global Ocean Legacy - French Polynesia
Jérôme Petit directs Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project in French Polynesia. He has a decade of technical and political experience in international biodiversity governance.
Poema du Prel
Consultant, Global Ocean Legacy - French Polynesia
Poema du Prel is a consultant for Global Ocean Legacy’s French Polynesia initiative. She brings a strong Polynesian connection to the campaign and spends her time in the Austral Islands, working with local communities on the definition of a large-scale marine protected area for this archipelago. Du Prel has traveled from Antarctica to the Solomon Islands. She has an eclectic work path and speaks Tahitian, French, and English. Du Prel lives on her boat on Moorea, an island in French Polynesia.
Aline Schaffar
Officer, Global Ocean Legacy - New Caledonia
Aline Schaffar is an officer with Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project for New Caledonia. She has served as a consultant in marine biology, studying humpback whales, marine mammals, and turtles, and has published a wide range of scientific articles and reports. Schaffar holds a master’s degree in zoology.
Donatien Tanret
Officer, Global Ocean Legacy - French Polynesia
Donatien Tanret is an officer with Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project in French Polynesia. He has developed numerous environmental assessments and management plans, which contributed to development and establishment of nature conservation areas across French Polynesia. Tanret holds master’s degrees in environmental sciences and geography.
Angelo O'Connor Villagomez
Officer, Global Ocean Legacy
Angelo O’Connor Villagomez is an officer with Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project. He has helped secure the designation of the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument by the U.S. government, as well as passage of more than two dozen shark conservation laws in small Pacific and Caribbean island states. Villagomez has more than 10 years of grassroots experience campaigning for ocean protections and has worked for the League of Conservation Voters, the Smithsonian, and the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance.
