The U.S. Navy is working to reduce its energy consumption and increase its use of renewable power sources. http://www.pewtrusts.org/energysecurity.

This includes using 50 percent less fossil fuels and deploying 1 gigawatt of clean energy by 2020. Dennis McGinn, assistant secretary of the Navy for energy, installations, and the environment, discusses how the Navy is increasing efficiency and embracing new advanced energy sources will allow the Navy to reduce costs and enhance mission assurance.
