Covering almost 350,000 acres in southeastern Nevada, Gold Butte was formed by the same geologic forces that created Arizona’s Grand Canyon. Native American petroglyphs and shelters dating back more than 12,000 years are found throughout the area.
Designation of this treasure-trove of cultural, historic, and natural wonders was made possible by the support of thousands of people across the country. Tribes, elected officials, business owners, community groups, veterans, and outdoor enthusiasts called on our national leaders to safeguard this beloved landscape.
