Karen Sack: Antarctica's Ross Sea is Among World's Last Wild Places

Karen Sack of The Pew Charitable Trusts describes the untouched beauty of the Ross Sea, home to the world's largest population of emperor and adelie penguins.

In July, 24 countries and the European Union are expected to decide whether to create two marine protected areas or leave them vulnerable to large-scale fishing: the Ross Sea, proposed by the United States and New Zealand, and the East Antarctic, proposed by Australia, France, and the European Union. If created, the Ross Sea marine reserve will be the largest in the world.
