In Arizona, the Sonoran Desert Heritage conservation proposal seeks to protect public land in western Maricopa County, near Phoenix.

Conservationists, farmers, faith leaders and even the U.S. Air Force base are all part of the diverse coalition working to safeguard ancient artifacts, open space and wildlife found throughout this vitally important desert landscape.
