A year ago, this month, the Marshall Islands created the world's largest shark sanctuary. Sharks have been a part of Marshall Islands folklore and culture for centuries, and people living among the atolls understand that these animals play an important role in ocean and island health. This video, featuring music by Niten Anni, highlights the importance of the ocean and its sharks to the culture of the Pacific, and celebrates the Marshall Islands shark sanctuary as a model for other countries considering shark protections of their own.
