The Pew Charitable Trusts sent a letter to Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Feb. 8, 2023, praising the agency’s Final Rule and Record of Decision for roadless areas on National Forest System lands in Alaska. The decision to reinstate the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule in the Tongass National Forest restored protections for more than 9 million acres of public lands.
