On May 9, The Pew Charitable Trusts’ suicide risk reduction project submitted public comments in response to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s (USPSTF) draft recommendation statement for youth suicide risk screening. Pew urges USPSTF to recommend annual screening for all children and adolescents, regardless of whether the individual presents symptoms of suicide risk or other behavioral health concerns. Universal suicide screening has been shown to help health care providers identify young people at risk and connect them to lifesaving care.
