Suggestions for the Senate to Deal with Future Pandemics

The Pew Charitable Trusts sent a letter Feb. 4 to the leaders of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, which had issued a request for proposals to strengthen the nation’s public health preparedness and pandemic response system. Pew offered suggestions to address risks from antibiotic-resistant bacteria, support efforts to provide treatment for individuals with opioid use disorder, and improve electronic data sharing to ensure that public health agencies have the information they need to recognize and respond to future crises.
