The Pew Charitable Trusts sent comments Feb. 22 to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration supporting the agency’s proposed rule on food traceability, or the ability to track food products throughout the supply chain. Improved traceability would make it easier for investigators to determine which foods may be causing outbreaks of illnesses. The comments urged FDA to frequently update the list of high-risk foods subject to additional record-keeping requirements and to limit the number of entities exempt from the traceability rule.
