House Introduces Bill to Incentivize Antibiotic Development, Stewardship

Pew and 40-plus other organizations urge lawmakers to pass legislation to fight antibiotic resistance

New Bill to Incentivize Antibiotic Development, Stewardship

On Dec. 14, The Pew Charitable Trusts and more than 40 other organizations sent a letter to Representatives Mike Doyle (D-PA) and Drew Ferguson (R-GA), thanking them for introducing H.R. 8920, the Pioneering Antimicrobial Subscriptions to End Upsurging Resistance (PASTEUR) Act. The act would promote development of antibiotics that are urgently needed to combat the growing threat of antibiotic resistance and would support antibiotic stewardship efforts, which can help to preserve the effectiveness of these lifesaving drugs.
