Pew Calls on Federal Agency to Address Substance Use Treatment, Health IT, and Medical Devices

The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments Sept. 27 to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in response to proposed payment rules. Pew calls for adding unique medical device identifiers to insurance claims forms and urges the agency to take steps to improve the sharing of patients’ medical data and the safety of electronic health record systems. Pew also asks for Medicare to provide coverage for opioid use disorder treatment models that include care coordination.
