FDA Can Improve Antibiotic Use In Animals

The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Sept. 13 in response to the agency’s efforts to develop industry guidance on the appropriate use of alternative approaches in clinical investigations of antibiotics and other animal drugs.

In its letter, Pew highlighted how the agency’s guidance could help foster innovation of non-antibiotic treatments for animals and make it easier to establish evidence-based duration limits for the many medically important antibiotics that currently lack them.
