The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments May 31 to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in response to draft rules on health IT required by the 21st Century Cures Act. Pew calls for action to improve the ability of electronic health record systems to share data with each other and better testing to ensure that their design and implementation do not inadvertently put patients at risk of harm, as well as to improve care coordination for patients with opioid use disorder.
