Pew, Partners Urge Congress to Allow Assistance to Improve Patient Matching Rates
The Pew Charitable Trusts and more than 30 partner organizations sent a joint letter on May 9 to congressional appropriators urging them to make clear that the federal government can support private sector-led efforts to improve patient matching rates among electronic health record systems. This would clarify that action can be undertaken despite a longstanding federal prohibition on developing a unique patient identifier.
