Pew Urges Senate to Protect Patient Safeguards in Compounding Law

The Pew Charitable Trusts, together with the American Public Health Association, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, the Generic Pharmaceutical Association, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, and Trust for America’s Health, sent a letter to the chair and ranking member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies. The groups are urging the committee to safeguard patient protections in the Drug Quality and Security Act of 2013 and ensure that the fiscal year 2017 appropriations language does not impede FDA’s ability to issue guidance in order to implement the law.
