Pew’s Comments on Proposed Health Information Technology Legislation

On Feb. 2, The Pew Charitable Trusts wrote to the leadership of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions regarding its proposed health information technology legislation. Pew’s work on ways to use electronic health records (EHRs) to increase patient safety informed this letter. The comments discuss the need for evidence-based policies that strengthen patient matching, promote data integration to enhance health information systems’ interoperability, and improve the usability of EHRs.
