On Nov. 16, 2015, The Pew Charitable Trusts wrote to the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) to provide an update on the implementation of the unique device identification (UDI) system.
Pew recommended that the NCVHS clarify its support for including UDI data in insurance claims forms. Pew also suggested that the organization propose pilot projects to demonstrate the potential for UDI data to improve patient safety and realize savings throughout the health care system.
