Louisiana State University published a fact sheet that details the background of surface longlines in the Gulf of Mexico and outlines two promising alternatives for fishing gear. The fact sheet also discusses the National Marine Fisheries Service's proposed solution to reduce the incidental catch of spawning Western Atlantic bluefin tuna by Gulf surface longlines.
