The proposed laws outline requirements for chain restaurants to provide nutritional information. The HIA found that menu labeling in these restaurants would likely result in modest decreases in calorie intake, and could have substantial impacts on population weight gain. The HIA recommended that community education efforts, pricing incentives, or other strategies be implemented along with mandated menu labeling to have a greater positive impact on population weight gain.
