Is Your State a Winner When it Comes to Federal Support for Oral Health?
Twenty-one states are winners. They received cooperative agreement grants and technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. States can save money by using these funds to operate programs that prevent cavities and promote oral health.
Every state should be a winner!
If your state is not currently a winner, tell the House and Senate Appropriations subcommittees on labor, health and human services, education, and related agencies that you want CDC to receive sufficient funds to provide these grants to every state. The price tag on such a plan is modest. For $19 million in fiscal year 2015 and modest increases in subsequent years, all states could receive CDC capacity-building grants. These funds are critical to help address dental disease, which CDC calls the most common chronic health condition among our nation’s kids.
