Pew Latin American Fellow Wins Bunge and Born Foundation's Repatriation Grant

Hector Saka, a 2008 Pew Latin American fellow, has been chosen by the Bunge and Born Foundation to receive support in establishing his own laboratory in Argentina. That award matches the repatriation funding Saka has received as a Pew fellow.

Saka received postdoctoral training in the laboratory of 2005 Pew scholar Raphael Valdivia at Duke University. Saka’s research focused on the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatisrevealing the molecular basis for the pathogen’s manipulation of its host cells.

Saka continues his microbiology and cell biology research as an investigator fellow at the University of Cordoba in Argentina.
