Ballot Costs in Oneida County, NY

Return to Election Data Dispatches.

Oneida County, NY, expects to cut the cost of printing ballots by more than half by having another county print its ballots rather than continuing to use a commercial press.

The county, which does not have the equipment to print its own ballots, will pay 26 cents per ballot to Schenectady County for the printing services, compared with the 57 cents per ballot charged by Fort Orange Press, a private company.

This is the first time that two New York counties have entered into an agreement for one county to buy ballot-printing services from the other. Schenectady County purchased its two printing machines with $200,000 in funds from the Help America Vote Act of 2002.
