Early Voting in Maryland

Return to Election Data Dispatches.

After passing legislation in 2009 allowing early voting, Maryland has had three elections where voters have been able to cast ballots during a six-day period prior to Election Day. Data from the State Board of Elections allows us to see just when people cast their early ballots.

While more data and time are needed to see strong patterns emerge, in all three elections, the most ballots were cast on the last day of early voting. The number of people casting early ballots also dropped from the first day to the second day in all three instances.
