BALTIMORE, MD - On December 7, Dr. Aaron Wernham will discuss health impact assessments as a tool to create healthier communities and address the root causes of public health problems as part of a lecture series at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Health impact assessments give public health officials the tools and data needed to inform projects and work in partnership with policymakers across sectors to prevent increased burdens on the health system. Dr. Wernham will provide an introduction to the field of health impact assessment and examples of how it has been used successfully in the U.S. He also will discuss the work of the Health Impact Project, which has an open call for proposals to fund health impact assessment demonstration projects.
