On Tuesday, August 12, The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments to Senate Finance Committee chair Ron Wyden and senior Finance Committee member Chuck Grassley on the use of health data to better understand the effect of new medical products on patient outcomes.
Pew’s comments focus on needed reforms that will give patients and providers better information on medical device performance, including making registry findings publicly available, improving interoperability of electronic health records (EHRs), and incorporating unique device identification into electronic data sources, such as EHRs and health insurance claims.
