Pew Announces Ralph Leslie as Executive Vice President for Operations

Ralph Leslie as Executive Vice President for Operations

WASHINGTON—The Pew Charitable Trusts today announced the appointment of Ralph Leslie as executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective Nov. 29. Leslie will manage finance, information technology, workplace services, and human resources. In January 2022, he will also assume the role of chief financial officer.

Leslie joins Pew from Northwestern University, where he was the chief financial officer and associate dean of finance and business operations for the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He previously served as chief financial officer and treasurer of the Obama Foundation.

“We’re delighted to welcome Ralph to Pew, where he will help shape the organization’s strategic direction, align resources and talent, and contribute to our efforts to pursue greater impact,” said Sue Urahn, president and chief executive officer. “Ralph brings significant experience and acumen to Pew, and his inspiring leadership will be an asset for our team.”

“I’m excited and proud to join such a well-respected and highly reputable nonpartisan organization focused on improving public policy and solving some of the world’s most challenging problems,” said Leslie. “I look forward to partnering with Sue and the executive team to help Pew develop and execute bold ideas.”

Leslie brings more than 30 years of experience to Pew; he has previously held senior financial roles at Navy Pier Inc., the Ounce of Prevention Fund, PepsiCo, and Cargill Inc.

Leslie received a master’s in business administration from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Chicago State University.
