Pew Welcomes Two New Board Members
The Pew Charitable Trusts is pleased to announce the recent appointments of Dr. Raynard Kington and Willa Seldon to its Board of Directors, which is committed to advancing Pew’s efforts to solve global challenges through nonpartisan data, research, and advocacy. Their appointments are effective July 1, 2021.
“Raynard and Willa both bring tremendous depth of knowledge, insight, and experience to Pew,” said Bob Campbell, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Their perspective and expertise will help the entire organization continue to advance independent research and data-driven recommendations. All of us on the board look forward to their counsel and contributions.”

Dr. Raynard Kington is head of school at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, a position he has held since July 2020. Prior to joining Andover, he served as president of Grinnell College for a decade. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership roles at the National Institutes of Health, including acting director, principal deputy director, acting director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and associate director for behavioral and social sciences research. He also previously served at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, RAND Corporation, and was an assistant professor of medicine at UCLA. Dr. Kington holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan. He also received a Ph.D. in health policy and economics, and a master’s in business administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
Willa Seldon is a partner at The Bridgespan Group in San Francisco, where she has advised nonprofits, social enterprises, and foundations since 2011. She also serves as a senior advisor to Black Ambition, a nonprofit initiative working to close the opportunity and wealth gap through entrepreneurship. Previously, Seldon served as chief executive officer of the Glide Foundation, a San Francisco-based center for social justice, and executive director of the Tides Center, a fiscal sponsor and accelerator for nonprofits. Her private sector experience includes co-founding a venture capital firm and serving in leadership roles at AirTouch. She received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale University, a master’s in business administration from the Harvard Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bryn Mawr College.
