PROFILE

Raiana McKinney works on Pew’s international fisheries project, where she helps lead engagement at regional fisheries management organizations in the Pacific and Indian oceans. Her efforts include advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within Pew and serving on the Global Ghost Gear Initiative’s Define Best Practice and Inform Policy Working Group.

McKinney previously worked on marine initiatives to strengthen tuna fisheries governance, regulate the trade of sharks and rays, and bolster innovations in artificial intelligence as a member of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea’s Working Group on Technology Integration for Fishery-Dependent Data. Before coming to Pew, McKinney worked for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Sustainability.

McKinney holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from New York University and is pursuing a master’s in international relations at Harvard University.
