PROFILE

Blake Busse leads Pew’s work to improve the health and resilience of National Forest System lands for the benefit of both wildlife and people by engaging with a range of partners and leaders from the U.S. Forest Service and Department of Agriculture on national policy initiatives. Busse previously spearheaded Pew’s efforts to increase terrestrial conservation outcomes through forest planning processes by convening local stakeholders to collaboratively develop consensus management recommendations for submission to the Forest Service.

Prior to joining Pew, Busse worked as an environmental planner and project manager for a consulting firm that specialized in assisting federal land management agencies such as the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to develop their land management plans and conducted related environmental analyses and special studies. He also has experience with policy development on state and federal political campaigns.

Busse holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and international affairs and a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Boulder. Based in Denver, he is a licensed attorney in the state of Colorado.
