Elinor Haider directs Pew’s policy and research team in Philadelphia. In this role, she leads Pew’s efforts to help Philadelphia’s policymakers and influential stakeholders address important challenges facing the city and the region. Haider works to combine Pew’s evidence-based research and impartial analysis of key issues with convenings that offer participants the opportunity to learn best practices from experts and policymakers from around the country.   

Before joining Pew, Haider served as vice president of market development for Veolia North America, leading development and execution of environmental policy and regulatory and sustainability strategy. She previously served as CEO of NovaThermal Energy, an early stage clean tech company; deputy commerce director for Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter; and chief of staff for the city’s deputy mayor for economic development.   

Haider holds a bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in real estate finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and a master’s in international economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
