PROFILE

Sheri Gentekos directs Pew’s civic initiatives in Philadelphia, leading grantmaking that aims to strengthen the city and region’s appeal as a place to live, work, and visit. These initiatives often include partnering with local institutions to fund major multiyear projects that preserve and highlight the city’s history and public spaces. Gentekos also oversees grants to organizations with which Pew has historic ties and manages support for The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, which serves as the Trusts’ primary vehicle for fostering a thriving arts and cultural community in the Philadelphia region. She previously worked alongside Pew’s former CEO and later as a liaison to the board of directors.

Before coming to Pew, Gentekos served as a research coordinator for the American College of Physicians.

Gentekos holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Dickinson College and a master’s in public health from Drexel University.
