Stats on the people seeking refuge in Europe

A record 1.3 million migrants applied for asylum in the European Union, Norway, and Switzerland in 2015. That breaks 2014’s record of 600,000 and is considerably higher than any annual flow of people since 1985. Germany has been the top destination for asylum applicants 20 times since 1985.
