David Hyun
PROFILE
David Hyun, M.D., directs Pew’s antibiotic resistance project, which supports policies that remove regulatory, economic, and scientific obstacles to the discovery of new antibiotics and ensures that antibiotics are prescribed only when necessary.
Before joining Pew, he practiced medicine at Children’s National Medical Center, where he developed and co-chaired the antibiotic stewardship program. He also was an assistant professor of pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine. Hyun has published and lectured widely on managing antibiotic use in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Hyun received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota and a Doctor of Medicine from Ohio State University’s College of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Indiana University and a fellowship program in pediatric infectious disease at Baylor College of Medicine.
