Fan Meng

Research

Fan Meng is deputy director general of the Oceanic and Fisheries Administration in Guangdong Province, China. His Pew fellowship focused on development of a marine protected area network covering the coastal areas of that province. The project was developed through scientific surveys and resource investigations, with the goal of designing five to seven new marine protected areas each year from 2008 to 2010. Meng is secretary general of the Guangdong Sea and Rivers Conservation Association as well as deputy director general of the Guangdong Forestry Administration. Prior to holding these positions, he served for years in several leadership roles with various government environmental agencies in China.
