Q. What serious issue in your state would you like the next president to address?
We have the same problems everyone else has … with an energy program that has failed us. We’re hurting for that. That’s causing our economy to falter just like everywhere else…
Utah has enough resources in oil, shale, coal and natural gas to actually fuel this country. The only thing is you’ve got to get the Democrat leader of the ( U.S. ) House to allow a real vote for real solutions, and not the kind of crap they’ve been throwing around before this time, playing around on the issue. Congress is an impediment to solving our problems. … Even though we have the resources, 70 percent of Utah is still owned by the federal government. It’s public land. Guys in the East really don’t get what it’s like to be a public-land state. And that’s the real problem we’ve got.
